About this position

This PhD position at Forschungszentrum Jülich offers an exciting opportunity to conduct advanced research on glass corrosion using in-situ and in-operando Raman spectroscopy. The successful candidate will develop and construct fluid cells with integrated alpha radiation sources, perform post-mortem analyses utilizing electron microscopy (EPMA, SEM) and X-ray methods (µCT, XRD), and prepare and evaluate solution analyses with ICP MS/OES. The role also includes publishing and presenting research results at national and international conferences, fostering both scientific communication and professional development.

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or Geosciences, with experience in Raman spectroscopy, glass corrosion, and/or radiochemistry. Strong English language skills and a high level of motivation for independent scientific work are essential, as is a commitment to completing a PhD.
