The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) Department of Management and Organization is inviting applications for fully funded PhD positions in Business Administration, specializing in management, leadership, organizational studies, governance, wellbeing, welfare, and happiness. The program offers a vibrant, multidisciplinary environment with research opportunities in areas such as organizational behaviour, human resource management, work psychology, public policy, and administration. Students will benefit from close collaboration with businesses, public and non-profit organizations, and international researchers. Applicants are encouraged to propose research projects in governance (including public/private sector governance, health and educational governance, and policy evaluation), leadership (with a focus on diversity, technology, sustainability, power, and politics), organizations and people at work (covering topics like organizational justice, performance management, employee well-being, and the human side of AI), and wellbeing, welfare, and happiness (improving quality of life and measurement in organizations and societies). A special call is open for a fully funded PhD project at the Center for Responsible Leadership, focusing on 'Generational perspectives on doing leadership differently in the Nordic and Baltic context.' This project explores how young people experience and perform leadership, with opportunities to study leadership development, activism, entrepreneurship, and the influence of socio-cultural contexts in the Nordic and Baltic regions. The project anticipates a qualitative approach, including interviews, ethnography, and historical methods. All admitted PhD students receive a scholarship and guaranteed funding for the duration of the program, conditional on satisfactory performance. No tuition fees are charged. The program is full-time, residential, and taught in English. Applicants must hold a research-focused Master's degree, demonstrate strong academic motivation, and have proficiency in English.
