Advanced statistical and machine learning techniques will be employed to analyze non-linear interactions, such as the combined effects of heat and humidity on module encapsulants and the impact of rapid irradiance changes on inverter efficiency. The project will develop and validate predictive models capable of estimating performance degradation, failure probabilities, and remaining useful lifetimes for various PV technologies and installation sites. Validation will be conducted using external datasets and, where possible, in collaboration with industry partners.
This opportunity is self-funded, with no scholarship available. Students are responsible for tuition fees and materials, though material costs are not significant. Applicants should possess a first-class or upper second-class honours bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Systems) or an equivalent qualification. Candidates with lower undergraduate grades must hold a Master's degree. Excellent English language proficiency is required.
