Morocco is launching a major initiative to support its energy transition and sustainability goals by funding 50 PhD scholarships in renewable energy, energy transition, and climate change. This program, a partnership between the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, will run from 2026 to 2028 and is overseen by the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST). With a total budget of MAD 63 million ($6.1 million), the scholarships aim to train the next generation of experts in sustainability, strengthen research capacity, and contribute to Morocco's National Sustainable Development Strategy 2035. The program encourages young researchers to work on projects in renewable energy, green hydrogen, circular economy, and climate resilience.
