About this position

The University of Luxembourg, a modern and international research university, is offering a postdoctoral position in 5G/6G Non-Terrestrial Networks and Satellite Networks within the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). The SigCom research group focuses on signal processing for wireless communication systems, including satellite communications and radar systems, and is expanding into next-generation wireless communications. The successful candidate will work on subjects related to the latest 3GPP core network standards, implementing features in free5GC and/or OpenAirInterface/srsRAN software for simulations, and conducting theoretical research with the aim of patenting and contributing to future standards.

Research topics include Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs), Multicast and Broadcast Services (MBSs), UAVs, UAS, Urban Air Mobility, and experimental emulators and testbeds. The role involves setting up real-world testing in labs and the field, disseminating results through publications and conferences, developing research proposals for industrial, national, and European funding, and supporting the supervision of PhD students. Candidates must have a PhD in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science/Engineering with a focus on network communications, and possess strong programming and software development skills.

Experience with open-source mobile network frameworks, Linux, SDRs, and virtualized environments is required. The position offers a fixed-term contract of 24 months, full-time, with a gross annual salary of EUR 83,099.

The University of Luxembourg provides a dynamic, multilingual environment with high-quality equipment and strong ties to industry and European institutions. Applications should be submitted online and include a CV, degree details, thesis summaries, publication list, referee contacts, and a cover letter. Early applications are encouraged.
