About this position

The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine is seeking a talented Postdoctoral Associate to join the Jalili and Robson Labs in Farmington, CT. This position focuses on bioengineering, specifically 3D bioprinting, and offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects that utilize state-of-the-art bioprinting facilities. The research involves using patient-derived organoids and cell lines to replicate healthy and diseased human organs, with integration into organ-on-chip platforms to advance functional organ-level tissues.

The Robson Lab employs advanced molecular, cellular, and stem cell biology approaches to study evolution, development, and disease, while the Jalili Lab investigates host immunity, the microbiome, and their interface using engineering tools in the context of infectious diseases, autoimmunity, and cancer. The position welcomes applicants from backgrounds such as biomedical engineering, biomaterials science, microfluidics, bioprinting, immune engineering, or related fields. Collaboration opportunities exist with professionals in bioengineering, biology, immunology, microbiology, and clinical research across The Jackson Laboratory, University of Connecticut, UConn Health, and beyond.

As a Postdoctoral Associate, you will lead projects applying cutting-edge technologies including bioprinting, microfabrication, organ-on-chip development, organoid culture, microbiome sequencing, and single-cell transcriptomics. The role supports both academic and non-academic career goals and encourages applications from international candidates, women, and individuals from all backgrounds.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related field, with strong skills in cell and tissue engineering, biomaterials, bioprinting, immunoengineering, and cell biology. Experience in microfabrication, 3D printing/bioprinting, biomaterials fabrication, and host-microbiome interactions is preferred. At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal on bioprinting topics is required. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential.

The position is fully funded, with a competitive salary ranging from $65,589 to $75,569 depending on experience. The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution with a mission to discover genomic solutions for disease and improve human health.
