About this position

The IMP Laboratory at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 is offering an 18-month postdoctoral position focused on the dynamic covalent self-assembly of nanostructured polymers. The research aims to develop new block copolymer architectures using dynamic covalent chemistry, enabling the self-organization of polymers into ordered nanostructures driven by thermodynamic forces. This approach seeks to overcome the complexity and cost of traditional living polymerization techniques by introducing exchangeable bonds into linear and branched polymers, allowing the material to optimize its topology autonomously.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be responsible for synthesizing libraries of dynamic amphiphilic polymers and investigating their self-assembly in both solution and solid states. Advanced characterization techniques such as SAXS/SANS, Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), and Electron Microscopy (SEM/TEM) will be employed to analyze the resulting nanostructures. The project also involves mentoring PhD and Master students within the group, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment.

Applicants should possess a PhD in Polymer Science, Chemistry, or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in monomer and polymer synthesis and the structural characterization of polymeric materials. Experience with the self-assembly of block copolymers is advantageous. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about exploring new concepts in dynamic polymers, eager to learn, and ready to integrate into a fast-paced team.

The position offers a net monthly salary of approximately 2100-2400 €, depending on experience, and is based at the IMP Laboratory, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France. The start date is flexible, and the position will remain open until filled. For more information or to apply, candidates should contact Georges Formon at [email protected] and consult the laboratory's website for further details.
