About this position
The University of Dubai’s College of Engineering & IT is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to join the SYNERGY-PD project, an AI-powered digital twin initiative for Parkinson’s Disease diagnostics funded by the Dubai Future Foundation RDI Grant. The project aims to develop precision diagnostics and monitoring tools for Parkinson’s Disease by integrating biomarker analytics, advanced AI modeling, and real-time patient simulations. The successful candidate will work on biomarker analytics (including α-synuclein isoforms and neuron-derived extracellular vesicles), AI pipelines for multimodal data integration (with Agentic AI approaches), and the development of patient-specific digital twins for real-time simulation and calibration. The role also involves validation with clinical partners using UPDRS scoring and DaTscan imaging, as well as contributing to high-impact publications and patent filings.
The research team is led by Associate Professor Yassine Himeur (University of Dubai), with co-PI Prof. Shadi Atalla and international collaborators including Prof. Amin Beheshti (Macquarie University, Australia), Prof. Fayçal Bensaali (Qatar University), Dr. Ammar Albanna (Alamal Psychiatric Hospital, Dubai), and Prof. Wathiq Mansoor (American University of Baghdad, Iraq). The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with top researchers and clinicians, access advanced labs and datasets, and contribute to pioneering digital twin technologies for neurological disorders.
Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, AI in Healthcare, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Required skills include molecular biomarker analysis, machine learning, clinical data fusion, and proficiency in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar tools. Experience with clinical data interpretation, neuroimaging, and AI modeling is highly valued. Strong scientific writing, presentation, and collaboration skills are essential, along with an interest in clinical translation and healthcare impact.
The position is fully funded for three years, with applications open until filled. To apply, submit your CV and cover letter to the College of Engineering and IT via the University of Dubai careers website. For more information, visit the provided application link or contact [email protected].
