About this position

The University of Luxembourg, a leading international research university, is offering a postdoctoral position in Anti-Jamming Signal Processing within the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). The SigCom research group, led by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas and Prof. Eva Lagunas, specializes in wireless and satellite communications, focusing on the design and analysis of future 6G networks and resilient wireless communication systems. The group leverages advanced technologies such as semantic/task-oriented data processing, signal processing, network resource management, and AI/machine learning to address challenges in highly dynamic and spectrally congested environments.

The successful candidate will contribute to research on resilient wireless networks, specifically targeting intentional interference (jamming) and severe unintentional interference. Responsibilities include developing innovative signal processing techniques for detection, characterization, and mitigation of interference/jamming events, utilizing multi-antenna processing (direction of arrival estimation, nulling, beam-steering) and signal cancellation/cleaning. Theoretical and data-driven AI tools will be employed to support fast, proactive decision-making in wireless and non-terrestrial satellite systems. Collaboration with an international, multidisciplinary team and engagement in ongoing activities related to resilient wireless communication networks are expected. The candidate will also be involved in attracting new funding, publishing in top-tier journals, presenting at international conferences, and participating in outreach activities.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, with a strong publication record in relevant fields. Expertise in resilient wireless networks, interference detection and mitigation, multi-antenna processing, and signal processing is essential. Experience with machine learning, MATLAB, Python, and machine learning frameworks is valuable. Industrial collaborations, public-funded research project experience, and international exposure are desirable. Excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills, along with fluency in English, are required.

The position is a fixed-term contract for 24 months, with a yearly gross salary of EUR 85176. The University of Luxembourg offers a modern, dynamic environment with high-quality equipment, close ties to industry, and a unique urban campus. Applications should be submitted online through the HR system, including CV, academic background, cover letter, PhD diploma or expected defense date, and transcripts. Early applications are encouraged as they are processed upon reception. The university promotes an inclusive culture and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
