UniDistance Suisse, a leading Swiss institution for distance higher education, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher (90%) in modern and contemporary history. Based in Brig with the possibility of partial remote work, this five-year position (with potential one-year extension) supports both teaching and research within the Faculty of History. The successful candidate will contribute to the Bachelor of Arts in Historical Sciences, assisting with various modules, and will also pursue independent research projects, including the publication of their thesis manuscript and the development of funding applications (e.g., FNS-Ambizione, ERC Starting Grant).
Applicants must hold a doctorate in history (19th–20th century) or a closely related field, with excellent academic results. Specialization in international relations history, economic history, cultural history, or media history is required. Additional expertise in political science, sociology, or other historiographical areas is considered an asset. Experience in teaching or as a teaching assistant is essential, and familiarity with online teaching methods (such as flipped classroom) is advantageous. The postdoctoral project should align with or complement the research directions of the faculty's three existing chairs. Candidates must demonstrate fluency in French (C2), scientific communication skills in English, and comprehension of spoken and written German.
