About this position

The Autonomous University of Madrid is offering a postdoctoral researcher position in Physics, with a focus on the development and application of fluorescence microscopy techniques for intracellular measurements. The successful candidate will join the Teaching and Research Staff (Personal Docente e Investigador) and contribute to cutting-edge research funded by the Horizon Europe - ERC programme.

Key research tasks include the calibration of materials as sensors to measure temperature, oxygen, and pH values within cells, and the development of models based on artificial intelligence algorithms to interpret luminescence signals. The project also involves studying the interaction between nanomaterials and cells, writing scientific articles, and presenting research findings at scientific conferences.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, or Biological Sciences, with proven experience in cell culture, advanced spectroscopic characterization of luminescent nanomaterials (including temperature-dependent, steady-state, and time-resolved techniques), and the use of luminescent sensors for measuring temperature and other parameters in biological environments. Experience with machine-learning algorithms for luminescence signal analysis and sensing applications is essential, as is a strong record of scientific writing and conference presentations. Proficiency in English is required.

This is a full-time, temporary position based at the university's Campus de Cantoblanco in Madrid, Spain. The position is funded through the Horizon Europe - ERC programme, offering a stimulating research environment and opportunities for professional development. The contract will begin on February 1, 2026, with applications accepted until December 31, 2026.

To apply, candidates should submit their application via the university's official portal at https://sede.uam.es/sede/piproyectos. For further information, applicants may contact Dr. Riccardo Marin at [email protected]. Additional details about the position can be found on the Euraxess job portal: https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu//jobs/398310.

This opportunity is ideal for researchers seeking to advance their expertise in fluorescence microscopy, nanomaterials, and the application of artificial intelligence in biological measurements, within a vibrant academic setting in Madrid.
