TU Wien, Austria's largest institution for research and higher education in technology and natural sciences, is offering a PhD position as University Assistant Prae-Doc at the Institute of Chemical, Environmental and Bioscience Engineering. The position is supervised by Professor Georg Pesch and is part of the Research Unit Mechanical Process Engineering and Clean Air Technology. The research project focuses on developing novel electrokinetic separators, specifically using dielectrophoresis, to recover valuable materials from dust generated during the recycling of electrical equipment. This work directly supports the circular economy by enabling micron-scale particle separation in waste streams.

The successful candidate will collaborate on research and teaching tasks, participate in examinations, supervise bachelor and master theses, and contribute to scientific publications and dissertation writing. Additional responsibilities include attending scientific events such as conferences and symposia, and participating in organizational tasks within the institute.

Applicants must hold a master or diploma degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Strong theoretical knowledge in process engineering, practical laboratory or simulation skills (FVM, FEM), and a keen interest in fundamental engineering research and method development are essential. Experience in laboratory work or computer-aided simulations is highly valued. Proficiency in English at B2 level is required, while German at B1 level is beneficial. The ideal candidate will be independent, solution-oriented, and possess strong teamwork and communication skills.
