Postdoctoral Fellow in Precision Oncology and Translational Research of Gastrointestinal Cancers at City of Hope

City of Hope’s Department of Molecular Diagnostics and Experimental Therapeutics, led by Professor Ajay Goel, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow and a Staff Scientist to join a multidisciplinary research group in Monrovia, California. The group focuses on precision oncology and translational research in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, including colorectal, pancreatic, gastric, esophageal, and hepatocellular cancers. Research areas include genomic and epigenomic characterization, development of liquid biopsy biomarkers, and the study of the gut microbiome, tumor microenvironment, and novel targeted therapies. The team is highly productive, publishing in top journals such as Nature Cancer, Nature Communications, and New England Journal of Medicine. Projects involve collaboration with basic researchers, gastroenterologists, surgeons, oncologists, and bioinformaticians, as well as large international consortia. Candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative approaches in cancer detection, prognosis, and therapy response prediction, and to work on the development of cell-free DNA, RNA, and exosomal-based assays. Applicants should have a Ph.D., MD, or MD/Ph.D. in oncology, cancer biology, immunology, or immunotherapy, with a strong publication record and experience in cancer biomarker development. The ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and excellent communication skills are essential. The Staff Scientist role also requires evidence of project leadership, mentoring, and successful grant funding. The Postdoctoral Fellow position offers a salary of $34.00 - $37.55 per hour, while the Staff Scientist position ranges from $38.67 - $127.69 per hour, with potential for tenure-track status upon securing multi-year grant funding. Both positions include comprehensive benefits. To apply, candidates should send their CV directly to Dr. Ajay Goel at [email protected] or apply via the City of Hope job portal using the provided links.
