Postdoctoral Research Associate position
The Adel Research Group (ARG) at Princeton University is seeking full-time Postdoctoral Research Associates to join their interdisciplinary team focused on Construction Robotics. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in advanced research at the intersection of design, computation, and robotics, under the supervision of Dr. Arash Adel, Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture and Associated Faculty in the Department of Computer Science. The research group’s interests span robot learning, human-robot interaction, generative AI, computer vision, closed-loop control, extended reality (XR), and computational design. The successful candidate will conduct research, disseminate results, collaborate on robotically fabricated structures, assist with lab and project management, and contribute to grant proposal development. Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in a relevant field (such as Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Robotics), a strong research and publication record, excellent scientific writing and communication skills, experience with Robot Operating System (ROS), and strong programming skills (Python required, C# and C++ desired). Fluency in English is mandatory. Additional desired skills include experience with sensing technologies, computer vision, perception, foundational knowledge of machine learning, development of custom tools and end effectors for robotic assembly, proficiency with Rhinoceros 3D and Grasshopper 3D, and real-world experience in architecture or construction. The position offers a competitive salary ($65,000 - $75,000), health insurance, and benefits, with appointments for one year and the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding. The work location is in-person at Princeton University, and the position is subject to the university’s background check policy.
