Postdoc in the History and Legacy of the Second World War

The University of Luxembourg is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a position focused on the history and legacy of the Second World War, specifically within the project 'Historical Dictionary of the Resistance in Luxembourg during the Second World War.' The successful candidate will join the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH), an interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to innovative research and public dissemination in contemporary history, with a particular emphasis on digital methods and tools. The postdoc will conduct independent and collaborative research, coordinate tasks related to the dictionary project, identify sources on the history of the resistance in Luxembourg, and contribute to writing and editing dictionary entries. Additional responsibilities include publishing in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at international conferences, and participating in the activities of the Research Group 'Contemporary History of Luxembourg.' Applicants must have a PhD in History or a related field, with demonstrated experience in research on the Second World War; knowledge of the history of the resistance is a strong asset. Language requirements include good knowledge of English and either French or German, with Luxembourgish considered an asset. The position offers a fixed-term contract of 36 months, a yearly gross salary of EUR 85,176, and the opportunity to work in a modern, multilingual, and international environment. The University of Luxembourg values inclusivity and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds. Applications should be submitted online through the university's HR system, including a cover letter, CV, and list of publications and projects. Early applications are encouraged as review will begin upon receipt.
