Postdoctoral Position – Biohybrid Cancer Therapeutics (30 months)

This 30-month postdoctoral position at INSERM's Center of Structural Biology (CBS) in Montpellier, France, is dedicated to advancing biohybrid cancer therapeutics. The successful candidate will focus on engineering biosensors and therapeutic circuits in E. coli Nissle and other probiotic strains, contributing to the assembly and physicochemical characterization of SPS-coated biohybrids. The role includes performing 2D/3D tumor assays and preclinical evaluation in mouse models, in collaboration with IRMB and the PEPCO platform, and analyzing immune evasion, signaling, and therapeutic efficacy. The position offers unique opportunities for international mobility and exchange with partners such as the University of Tokyo, CIC BiomaGUNE, and the University of Uppsala. The postdoc will also co-supervise students and participate in technology transfer activities within the INSERM innovation framework, including intellectual property valorization and potential spin-off initiatives. The CBS provides access to state-of-the-art imaging, cytometry, BSL-2 animal facilities, and bioengineering platforms within a vibrant biomedical ecosystem. Applicants must have a PhD in Synthetic Biology, Microbiology, Bioengineering, Immuno-oncology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline, with proven experience in genetic engineering of bacteria. Experience with secretion systems, biosensors, logic circuits, cell culture, tumor spheroids, and/or pre-clinical models (mice) is highly valued, though training can be provided. The lab environment is international and interdisciplinary, requiring excellent command of English (French is optional). Applications should include a CV, publication list, motivation letter, and two letters of recommendation, submitted as a single PDF to Dr. Diego Cattoni. Evaluation begins immediately and continues until the position is filled. Funding details are not specified, and the position is not funded by the EU Research Framework Programme.
