PhD in Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (Human-in-the-Loop Adaptive Learning) at Ulster University

Ulster University is offering a fully funded 3-year PhD position in Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence, focusing on Human-in-the-Loop Adaptive Learning. This opportunity is open to local applicants from the UK or the Republic of Ireland and is funded by the Department for the Economy (DfE). The successful candidate will join the Human Centred Computing (HCC) research team within the Intelligent Systems Research Centre, working at the intersection of active learning, reinforcement learning with human feedback, and explainable AI. The research aims to develop data-efficient, transparent, and reliable AI systems for safety-critical domains such as digital health and cybersecurity. The project will emphasize human-centred and trustworthy AI, integrating human feedback into adaptive learning methods to enhance system transparency and reliability. The HCC team is recognized for its expertise in intelligent systems and offers a collaborative environment for cutting-edge research.
