Postdoctoral Researcher in Health Economics, Biostatistics, or Epidemiology at University of Gothenburg
The Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in health economics, biostatistics, or epidemiology. This two-year, fully funded position is situated at the intersection of three leading research platforms: Health Economics, Policy and Evaluation (HEPER), the Centre for Health Governance, and UGOT-ReWork. The research focuses on the organization of primary care and its effects on efficiency and equity, work ability, return to work after sick leave, and the physician–patient relationship in pharmaceutical treatment and sick leave. The projects utilize Swedish register data to conduct quantitative analyses of healthcare systems, professional incentives, and regulatory frameworks, aiming to inform policy and improve health outcomes.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with experts in health economics, biostatistics, epidemiology, general practice, and occupational and environmental medicine. The position offers opportunities for independent research, professional development, and active participation in grant applications, seminars, and joint activities. The research is closely affiliated with the FORTE-funded UGOT-ReWork center, which develops interventions to support sustainable return to work, and the Centre for Health Governance, which addresses healthcare organization and policy.
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field (health economics, economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, or similar), with the degree completed within the last three years unless special circumstances apply. Required qualifications include excellent English skills, demonstrated ability to write scientific texts independently, and experience in quantitative research. Meritorious qualifications include expertise in health economic evaluation, econometrics, biostatistics, and proficiency in R and/or Stata. The University values personal suitability, responsibility, and collaborative skills.
The position is full-time for 24 months, with the possibility of extension. Salaries are set individually. The University of Gothenburg is committed to diversity and equal opportunity. Applications must be submitted via the University’s recruitment portal by March 11, 2026, and should include a CV, PhD certificate, main scientific work, and a brief research description.
