Postdoctoral research fellowship

Emory University, a leading research institution, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join Dr. Joshua Jeong’s research group in the Hubert Department of Global Health. The group focuses on understanding how parents, especially fathers, influence early childhood development (ECD) in low-resource settings, with active collaborations in Kenya and Tanzania. The research employs mixed-methods approaches to design, implement, and evaluate parenting interventions aimed at improving ECD during the first three years of life. The fellow will contribute to ongoing and new studies, analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data from cluster-randomized trials and process evaluations. Responsibilities include preparing statistical analysis plans, conducting advanced analyses, developing codebooks, integrating mixed-methods findings, leading and co-authoring manuscripts, preparing technical reports and policy briefs, and presenting research at conferences and stakeholder events. The position involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary and international team, including experts in developmental science, public health, economics, and cognitive neuroscience, as well as implementing partners in East Africa. The fellow will also help design a new cluster-randomized trial, finalize data collection tools, co-lead enumerator trainings, and supervise graduate and undergraduate research assistants. Participation in grant proposal development and up to 20% travel to Kenya and Tanzania for fieldwork are expected. The initial appointment is for one year, with renewal contingent on satisfactory progress and available funding, and cannot exceed five years. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field, strong scientific writing and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in diverse teams. Preferred candidates will have expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative research related to ECD, parenting, family relationships, gender, or maternal and child health, as well as experience in field research and implementation science. The initial application deadline is November 10, 2025, with recruitment continuing until the position is filled. Emory University is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and provides reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
