PhD Positions in Nanomaterials, Molecular Dynamics, and Chemical Engineering at IIT Ropar

The NanoTech Lab at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) is inviting applications for PhD positions in the fields of nanomaterials, molecular dynamics simulations, and advanced adsorption systems. The research group, led by Professor SK Meena, focuses on cutting-edge topics such as the development of novel microporous materials for CO₂ capture, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations for zeolite-based adsorbents, and computational modeling in chemical engineering and materials science. The lab is particularly interested in candidates who are motivated to address climate and energy challenges through impactful research. Applicants should have a strong background in science or engineering, with specific interests in nanotechnology, molecular dynamics, mathematical modeling, chemical engineering, chemistry, or materials science. The eligibility criteria require a master's degree (M.Tech/M.E/M.Sc or equivalent) with at least 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA (55% or 5.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD). For candidates with a B.Tech/BS or equivalent degree, a valid GATE/NET/CSIR qualification is mandatory. The lab encourages applications from students who already possess DST/CSIR fellowships or other external funding, as the primary funding for these positions is expected to come from such sources. Research projects include the development of vacuum-assisted electrical swing adsorption systems for CO₂ capture from industrial flue gas and the creation of MD simulation models for carbon-coated zeolite-based adsorbents to understand molecular-level adsorption of CO₂, N₂, and O₂. The lab offers a collaborative environment with opportunities to work on interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of nanotechnology, chemical engineering, and environmental science. To apply, interested candidates should submit their CV to [email protected] or [email protected]. For more information about the lab and its research, candidates can visit the lab's LinkedIn page. This is an excellent opportunity for students passionate about nanomaterials, computational modeling, and sustainable energy solutions to join a leading research group at IIT Ropar.
