PhD Research Fellowship in Tumor-Host Interaction in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC)
Join the University of Oslo as a PhD Research Fellow in the Oral Physiology and Cancer Research Group (OPCG) at the Institute of Oral Biology, Faculty of Dentistry. This full-time, 3-year position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful research in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), focusing on tumor-host interactions and the influence of oral cancer cells on skeletal muscle. The project will investigate the molecular profile of infiltrated skeletal muscle cells and the functional roles and prognostic significance of selected miRNA/proteins, employing high-throughput transcriptomic and proteomic profiling, as well as 2D and 3D cell culture models.
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree equivalent to a Norwegian Master’s in dentistry, molecular biology, or a related field, with a thesis grade of B or better. Preference will be given to candidates with a dental degree or strong knowledge of cancer/oral cancer biology. Proficiency in English is required, and Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is desirable. Experience with immunohistochemical/immunofluorescence techniques, cell culturing, molecular biology, digital image analysis, and high-throughput data analysis (RNA seq, proteomics) is advantageous. Publications in international peer-reviewed journals are valued.
