About this position
The Evonik Foundation Scholarship, in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM) and Professor Kirill Monakhov's research group, invites applications from outstanding and highly motivated students for Diploma, Master's, and PhD theses. The scholarship supports research projects focused on new electrochemical routes or processes towards carbon neutrality, with a strong emphasis on electrochemistry, redox chemistry, inorganic synthesis, metal–oxo clusters, surface modification, microscopies, and carbon-neutral technologies. The program is particularly encouraging applications from excellent female candidates and aspiring scientific leaders.
Successful applicants will join a renowned, chemically-oriented working group in Germany, benefiting from both financial support and personal mentoring. The Evonik Foundation offers funding for Diploma and Master's theses (six months, 250-600 Euro/month) and for doctoral research (two years, 1,850 Euro/month, with possible extension). Additional support is available for purchasing specialist literature and attending scientific conferences.
Eligibility requires outstanding academic achievements, alignment of the research project with the annual focus, and the inability to sufficiently finance scientific education through personal or third-party means. The application process involves contacting Prof. Monakhov by January 31 to discuss project ideas and eligibility, followed by submitting a research project summary by February 15. Selected candidates will be invited to submit a complete application and may be called for an interview. Funding begins in June at the earliest.
