The newly established junior research group CAVE (Computer-Aided Verification of Physical Security Properties) at Ruhr University Bochum is seeking PhD students for a 6-year project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) through the Emmy Noether Programme. The group is affiliated with the Horst Goertz Institute for IT Security and the Faculty of Computer Science, both recognized leaders in IT security in Europe. As a PhD student, you will work on cutting-edge research in hardware security engineering and verification, exploring innovative methods in computer-aided security engineering.

Dr. Pascal Sasdrich, the group leader, provides close supervision and regular one-to-one meetings to support your research.

Applicants should have a Master’s or strong Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, excellent English communication skills, and a solid background in cryptographic engineering, hardware security, physical implementation attacks (SCA & FIA), or formal verification techniques.
