These positions are part of two major research initiatives: SMART-6GSAT and 6G DICE. The projects aim to develop the next generation of wireless networks by focusing on energy efficiency, resilience, and cost-effectiveness, integrating terrestrial and satellite segments to support advanced digital services. Students will join a dynamic, international research environment, collaborating with leading academic, industry, and public partners.
The research topics include distributed MIMO in space, novel antenna cooperation and beamforming in satellite constellations, seamless TN-NTN integration, network architecture and protocols, and the orchestration of cloud, processing, and radio resources in space for AI-driven applications. The work will contribute to both theoretical advancements and practical demonstrators, supporting Europe’s leadership in future connectivity and standardization efforts. The positions are based at the Division of Communication Systems at KTH, under the supervision of Professors Cicek Cavdar and Emil Björnson.
The research is expected to be published in top-level journals and will prepare students for careers in academia and industry. The positions offer a monthly salary according to KTH’s doctoral student salary agreement, employee benefits, and support for relocation to Stockholm.
