About this position

The PROFOUND research group at the Instituto de Tecnología Química (ITQ), part of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV-CSIC), is seeking highly motivated PhD candidates for a fully funded position under the direction of Distinguished Researcher Juan Bisquert. This opportunity is offered within the framework of the Santiago Grisolía Programme (2026 call) and is specifically open to non-EU applicants.

The research will focus on unconventional computation and neuromorphic devices, with an emphasis on the preparation and study of functional ionic-electronic materials, especially perovskite-based materials. The project combines experimental characterization and physical modelling, providing a multidisciplinary environment at the intersection of materials science, physics, and chemistry.

The position provides a four-year predoctoral contract with competitive annual funding: €24,300 for each of the first two years, €25,210 for the third year, and €31,000 for the fourth year. The grant covers salary, employer’s social security contributions, and includes €1,600 in the first year for travel and relocation, as well as funding for end-of-contract compensation. The research group will actively support the enrolment process into a PhD programme in the Valencian Community.

Eligibility requirements include a university degree obtained after 1 January 2021 from a non-EU institution, no prior PhD degree or Santiago Grisolía grant, and conversational knowledge of Spanish, Valencian, or English. The position is subject to the final resolution of the Santiago Grisolía Programme 2026 call, expected soon.

Interested candidates should send their CV and a brief motivation letter to [email protected], with a copy to [email protected]. For more information, visit the PROFOUND group website or the provided Google Scholar profile.
