Flinders University in Australia is offering a fully funded PhD position in Hydrogeology within the College of Science and Engineering. The university is internationally recognized for its excellence in water and environmental research, ranking 17th for water resources in the 2021 Shanghai Ranking. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team working on Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Projects, focusing on hydrogeology, hydrology, and the interactions between marine/freshwater and surface water/groundwater systems.

The project involves collaboration with experts in geomorphology, oceanography, geophysics, hydrochemistry, and mathematical modeling, providing exposure to a broad range of research areas and techniques. The principal supervisor is Prof. Adrian Werner, with co-supervision from specialists at Flinders University and other Australian institutions.

Applicants must have, or be close to completing, an honors or master’s degree in water resources engineering, hydrogeology, hydrology/hydraulics, remote sensing, environmental science, or a related field. Preference is given to those with experience in computer modeling, coding, or field-based hydrogeology techniques. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential. The scholarship provides a tax-free stipend of AUD 33,533 per annum for 3 years (with a possible 6-month extension), paid fortnightly, and covers tuition fees for eligible students.
