About this position
The Future Energy and Innovation Lab, led by Professor Martin Pumera at the Central European Institute of Technology, Brno University of Technology, is offering fully funded PhD positions in advanced materials, nanorobotics, and green energy. The group is internationally recognized for its cutting-edge research at the intersection of materials science, nanotechnology, and biomedical/energy applications. Successful candidates will join a vibrant, research-oriented environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Three main PhD topics are available:
- Advanced Materials and Interfaces for Electrochemical Ammonia Synthesis Toward Green Energy: This project focuses on designing advanced catalysts and electrode architectures for sustainable, low-carbon ammonia production, providing an alternative to the traditional Haber–Bosch process.
- Nanorobots for Targeted Brain Cancer Therapy: This research explores the development and application of magnetically actuated nanorobots for precision treatment of brain cancers, combining materials design, magnetic control, and biological validation for enhanced therapeutic efficacy.
- 3D Printing of Nanorobot-Enhanced Functional Foods and Drugs: This interdisciplinary project investigates the 3D printing of biocompatible matrices embedded with engineered nanorobots, aiming to create next-generation functional foods and pharmaceutical formulations with programmable dosing and on-demand release.
Applicants should have a background in materials science, chemistry, physics, biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, or related fields, and be highly motivated for experimental research. No career break after MSc is allowed. Experience with electrochemistry, nanomaterials, micro/nanorobotics, or biointerfaces is a plus but not required.
The positions are fully funded, offering a minimum net salary of 1,100 EUR per month. The lab provides a supportive, international research environment with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and professional growth.
To apply, candidates should send their CV and a brief statement of interest, indicating their preferred PhD topic, to [email protected]. For more information about the group and research topics, visit nano.ceitec.cz.
