About this position

EMlab is hiring a PhD student! You are looking into merging theoretical understanding, numerical simulation and experimental activity to push forward the frontier of scientific knowledge and technology? Contact us and inquiry on how you could pursue your interests in our PhD program in Physics, researching on novel materials and devices by advanced multidimensional electron microscopy.PhD in Program in FISICA / PHYSICSDuration:   36 monthsNet scholarship income:   1300 Euros/monthApplication deadline:   September 13th, 2024Starting date:   November 1st, 2024Goals:The project will develop, validate novel electron microscopy methods to study the dynamics down to nm and ps scale in advanced materials and devices. The systems to be investigated include micro and nano electro-mechanical systems (MEMS, NEMS), semiconductor and insulator surfaces, 2D materials in bulk, few layers omo- and heterostructures, and devices such as hyperspectral photodetectors, photovoltaic cells, nanostructured catalyzers and quantum bits.Activities and context:The PhD student will deal with the following tasks:- Contribute to the simulation, design, realization, commissioning and validation of the spectromicroscopy and time resolved electron microscopy methods.- characterize the samples by optical spectroscopy measurements and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements- perform transient optical and electron spectroscopy, imaging and mapping in order to study the mechanical and charge transport dynamics in the systems mentioned above.Research performed in the framework of the following projects:1) PRIN - "Unraveling ultrafast charge and heat pathways in twisted van der Waals heterostructures", Id. 2022LA3TJ8, CUP D53D23002280006.2) PRIN PNRR - “NANOscale nondestructive spectroscopic mapping of defectS in heterojunction dEvicES - NANOSEES” – Id. P2022YM8J3, CUP D53D23018720001.3) Energy Partnership - Network 4 Energy Sustainable Transition (NEST), Id. PE0000021, CUP D43C22003090001.The optimal candidate has preliminary knowledge of ultrafast and non-linear optics and spectroscopy and/or of electron microscopy.PhD at PoliMi call, deadline September 13thhttps://lnkd.in/dtbvaf36PhD in Physics, subsection, look at position 4500-3821https://lnkd.in/dtbvaf36Documents for the position 4500-38211) Call (read carefully the requirements) https://lnkd.in/dy3Kq6bG2) Information about the PhD scholarshiphttps://lnkd.in/dnuCD3aVContact us:[email protected]#phd hashtag#hiring hashtag#2D hashtag#nanodevice hashtag#dynamics hashtag#energy hashtag#time hashtag#electron hashtag#microscopy hashtag#spectroscopy…more
