The Computational Chemistry Laboratory at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), South Korea, is inviting applications for PhD and integrated PhD (MS-PhD) positions. The lab, led by Professor Jun-Ho Choi, focuses on understanding the structure and dynamics of water and aqueous solutions using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, density functional theory (DFT) calculations, and graph theory. Research topics include molecular aggregation behavior, the Hofmeister effect, protein stabilization mechanisms, phase separation in liquid mixtures, and the development of carbon-neutral materials using AI and quantum chemistry methods.

Applicants should have a strong background in physical and computational chemistry, with degrees in chemistry, interdisciplinary natural sciences, physics, or related fields. Proficiency in English, autonomous learning skills, and strong programming abilities are highly valued.
