The Rivero-Crespo Lab at Stockholm University is recruiting for fully funded PhD and postdoctoral positions in the field of sustainable organic chemistry and materials science. The research group, based in the Department of Organic Chemistry, focuses on the interface between organic chemistry and materials science, with a strong emphasis on catalysis and sustainability. The group is particularly interested in the synthesis and characterization of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their application as heterogeneous catalysts for organic reactions, including multicatalysis and aerobic oxidations. The research aims to develop more efficient catalysts, minimize energy and resource use, and reduce waste and environmental impact from chemical production.

The PhD position is a four-year, full-time appointment funded by the Swedish Research Council. The successful candidate will work on the synthesis and characterization of multifunctional MOFs, study their catalytic activity in organic reactions, and perform in-situ and operando investigations. The project is highly interdisciplinary, combining organic chemistry, materials science, and catalysis, with sustainability as a central theme. Applicants must have a master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, with at least 240 ECTS credits (including 60 at the advanced level) and a completed independent project of at least 30 ECTS in a relevant subject. Selection criteria include subject knowledge, analytical and creative thinking, initiative, independence, collaboration skills, and proficiency in English.

The postdoctoral position is a two-year, full-time appointment funded by the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE). The postdoc will work on the synthesis of porous materials (MOFs) with catalytically active sites for use as heterogeneous catalysts in organic synthesis. The project is multidisciplinary, combining organic chemistry, materials science, and catalysis, with the goal of developing sustainable chemical processes and minimizing byproduct formation. Applicants must have a completed PhD in a relevant field, preferably within the last three years, with expertise in synthesis and characterization of porous materials, catalysis, and organic/materials chemistry. Additional criteria include scientific skill, communication skills in English, creativity, independence, and teamwork.
