The Department of Chemistry and Biomedical Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a PhD Candidate in Method Development in Quantum Chemistry. The immediate leader for the position is the Head of Department, and you will benefit from a mentor program, career guidance, and a supportive, inclusive working environment.

Applicants must hold a relevant Master's degree in quantum chemistry or physics (or equivalent), with experience in theoretical development of quantum chemical or electronic structure models. The position requires experience beyond the application of quantum chemical methods. The course of study should correspond to a five-year Norwegian program, with 120 credits at the master's level. Master students may apply, but the degree must be completed and documented before starting. A strong academic background is essential, with an average grade of B or better on NTNU's grading scale. Excellent oral and written English skills, programming experience, and good mathematical skills are required. Preferred qualifications include contributions to large software code bases or open-source software development, and proficiency in Norwegian or Scandinavian languages.

The position offers a gross salary of NOK 550,800 per annum, with a 2% statutory contribution to the State Pension Fund. The employment period is three years, with the possibility of a one-year extension for teaching duties.
