About this position
The Eindhoven University of Technology invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in Mixed-Signal Circuit Design for Sense to Compute, hosted by the NanoComputing Research Lab within the Department of Electrical Engineering. This opportunity is part of the prestigious NWO AiNED AI-on-ONN project, focusing on the design and implementation of Oscillatory Neural Networks (ONNs) for physics-based computing applications. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the sense-to-compute paradigm by designing and developing analog circuits for ONNs, modeling and simulating sensor data processing tasks, and exploring energy-efficient ONN topologies. Experimental validation and benchmarking of circuit designs are integral to the role, alongside collaboration with a dynamic interdisciplinary team and dissemination of research through high-impact journals and international conferences.
The NanoComputing Research Lab is recognized for its cutting-edge research in integrated circuits and physic-based computing, offering a stimulating environment with access to excellent technical infrastructure and international networks. The Department of Electrical Engineering at TU/e is committed to fostering a 'Smart Sustainable Society', a 'Connected World', and healthy humanity through innovative research and education. The university is located on a green campus in Eindhoven, within walking distance of the central train station, and provides a collaborative, open culture with strong ties to advanced industries.
Employment conditions include a full-time contract for four years, with an intermediate assessment after nine months. The position offers a competitive salary (scale P, €3,059–€3,881/month), year-end bonus, annual vacation pay, pension scheme, paid parental leave, commuting and internet allowances, and a 30% tax compensation scheme for international candidates. Additional benefits include high-quality training programs, on-campus childcare, sports facilities, and support from the Staff Immigration Team.
Applicants must hold a master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, with a strong background in mixed-signal circuit design and simulation. Proficiency in IC design tools (SPICE, Cadence, MATLAB), a research-oriented attitude, teamwork skills, and fluency in English are required. Application materials should include a cover letter, CV with publications and references, transcripts, MSc thesis (with English abstract), published papers or links, and IELTS/TOEFL results. Only complete applications submitted online will be considered. The vacancy will remain open until filled, with a priority deadline of February 5, 2026.
For further information, contact Prof. Aida Todri-Sanial at [email protected] or HR Services at [email protected]. Apply via the official application link provided. Pre-employment screening may apply. Join TU/e and contribute to innovative research in mixed-signal circuit design and physics-based computing!
