A PhD position is available in the research group “Translational Tumor Immunology and Immunotherapy” at the Department of Dermatology, Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with a strong background in biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, or related fields who are interested in advancing cancer immunology research. The doctoral project focuses on the identification and functional validation of HLA peptides, particularly neoantigens arising from aberrant transcription and translation, and assessing their immunogenicity using advanced immunological assays and imaging techniques. The research aims to determine the potential of these antigens for cancer immunotherapy.

The successful candidate will perform and optimize T-cell assays, including ELISpot, intracellular cytokine staining, and flow cytometry, as well as establish and execute cytotoxicity assays to test the effectiveness of antigen-specific T-cells against tumor cells. Imaging techniques such as live-cell imaging will be used to visualize interactions between T-cells and tumor cells. The role also involves presenting research findings at conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

The position is part-time (65%) and limited to three years. Applicants must have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field and demonstrate experience with immunological and cell culture techniques.
