The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Florida, led by Assistant Professor Fatemeh Nosrat, is offering a fully funded PhD Research Assistantship for Fall 2026. The position focuses on operations research and optimization with applications in healthcare, including cancer care analytics, data-driven decision making, stochastic optimization, inverse optimization, pricing and revenue management, and network effects. The research group is particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in mathematics, probability theory, statistics, mathematical analysis, stochastic modeling, operations research, optimization, and statistical learning. Experience or interest in machine learning methods such as tree-based methods, neural networks, and reinforcement learning is highly valued. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB is required.

Applicants should hold a B.Sc./B.A./B.S. and be pursuing or have recently completed an M.S./M.Sc. in operations research, mathematics, industrial engineering, or related fields, with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Preferred candidates will have research experience, journal publications, a completed Master’s degree, and experience in operations research and optimization. U.S. residency is preferred but not required. The position is fully funded, covering tuition and providing a stipend.
