The Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites applications for a Post-Doc Fellow position in Genomic Instability in Cancer, based at the Edmond J. Safra Campus in Jerusalem. This opportunity is hosted by the Batsheva Kerem Laboratory within the Genetics Department at the Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Science, a vibrant hub for genetics and epigenetics research. The department is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, exploring genome protection, gene expression, RNA regulation, and human evolution using diverse model organisms and cell types.

The Batsheva Kerem Laboratory focuses on the molecular biology of cancer, with a particular emphasis on genomic instability during early cancer development. Research in the lab investigates the roles of oncogenes and tumor suppressors in DNA replication dynamics, replication timing, transcription, and chromatin remodeling. The overarching goal is to understand how disruptions in cancer-related pathways lead to specific breakpoint signatures, thereby uncovering fundamental mechanisms of cancer progression. The lab is supported by a recently awarded NIH grant, ensuring robust funding for innovative research.

Supervised by Professor Batsheva Kerem, a leading expert in cancer genomic instability and personalized medicine for Cystic Fibrosis, the successful candidate will join a collaborative and diverse scientific community. Prof. Kerem’s distinguished career includes the identification of the CFTR gene linked to Cystic Fibrosis and ongoing research into genome instability and therapeutic development.

The position offers a monthly stipend of $2,600 and provides access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and a stimulating academic environment. Candidates should possess a strong background in molecular and cell biology, with additional experience in bioinformatics considered advantageous.
