A postdoctoral associate position is available in the Roeder Laboratory at Cornell University, focusing on polyploidy research within the School of Integrative Plant Science, Plant Biology Section, and the Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology. The Roeder Lab investigates how plant leaves and flowers achieve their size and shape, with a particular emphasis on the impact of polyploidy on cell size patterning in the plant epidermis. This research is significant for both agriculture and bio-inspired design in architecture. The current project, supported by an NSF collaborative grant, aims to understand the mechanisms by which polyploidy affects cellular and tissue performance under various environmental stresses, such as limited nutrients, salt, and genotoxic stress. The ultimate goal is to identify common and divergent mechanisms of polyploidy effects across plants, fungi, and animals.

The successful candidate will develop a research project aligned with the lab's goals and collaborate with team members within the lab and across the Polyploidy Integration & Innovation Institute (PI3). Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in biology, plant biology, molecular biology, genetics, bioengineering, or a related field, with strong laboratory research experience. Expertise in RNA-seq, proteomics, and confocal imaging is required, as is the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams studying various model organisms, including yeast, Drosophila, duckweed, Chlamydomonas, and Arabidopsis.

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with benefits, and the initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal. The salary range is $62,232 to $88,745 per year, depending on experience, education, and skills.
