About this position

The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering (CBS) Department at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Morocco is offering a postdoctoral position in environmental chemistry. UM6P is an internationally oriented institution committed to high standards of teaching and research, with a focus on sustainable economic development for Morocco and Africa. The university promotes applied research, innovation, and transdisciplinary collaboration, providing a dynamic environment for academic and entrepreneurial growth.

The CBS Department aims to establish a distinctive research-teaching program at an international level, addressing challenges in green and environmental chemistry across organic, inorganic, analytical, and biochemical domains. Research at CBS is organized around major areas that tackle industrial questions, from complex chemical and biochemical reactions to process engineering and scale-up. Projects focus on understanding molecular mechanisms to propose efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable alternatives.

This postdoctoral position centers on conducting research projects that address contemporary environmental issues, particularly the management of solid, liquid, and gaseous wastes leading to air and water pollution. The successful candidate will explore treatment solutions for these wastes and alternatives to reduce their primary sources. Responsibilities include detailed studies of waste composition, origin, and environmental impact; development of recycling technologies, chemical remediation, and carbon sequestration; assessment of environmental impacts using life cycle analysis and risk assessment; and collaboration with external partners, including industry, to implement sustainable waste management solutions.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in environmental chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field, with significant research experience in waste management and pollution. Expertise in environmental analysis tools and modeling is required, along with strong independent and team-working skills and excellent communication. Experience in radiochemistry and radio-nucleides is appreciated. The application process requires a detailed CV, cover letter, synthetic presentation of background and achievements, research and teaching plans, entrepreneurial ideas, and three reference letters.

UM6P offers a high-quality living and study environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, supporting research teams in developing funding and integrating research with incubation and start-up ecosystems. The university encourages academic liberty and innovation, making it an ideal platform for postdoctoral researchers seeking to contribute to impactful scientific research in environmental chemistry.
