The EcoHydroInformatics Research Group (EHIRG) at the University of Galway is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Hydrological Modelling. This position is based in the College of Science and Engineering, within the Civil Engineering discipline, and is funded by Met Éireann. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team focused on understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change on flood risk, particularly in urban environments.

The project addresses the increasing frequency and severity of flooding, driven by climate change, rising sea levels, and more intense storm events. The research aims to develop and test a novel flood forecasting and decision-making system for urban areas prone to coastal-fluvial floods. The role involves advanced hydrological modelling, flood risk assessment, and the application of environmental engineering principles to real-world challenges.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, with demonstrated expertise in hydrological modelling. Experience in flood risk analysis, climate change impact studies, and urban hydrology is highly desirable.
