About this position

ETH Zürich invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in nano-optomechanics, joining the Nanophotonic Systems Laboratory at the forefront of light-matter interaction research. The position focuses on advancing the field of optomechanics by leveraging recent developments in integrated optics and meta-optics, enabling unprecedented control over optical and mechanical degrees of freedom. The research aims to unlock new frontiers in fundamental physics and quantum technologies, with a strong emphasis on both theoretical and experimental approaches.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will lead your own project and collaborate with a dedicated team of PhD students. Your responsibilities include designing optomechanical systems using multiphysics numerical simulations, nanofabrication in state-of-the-art cleanroom environments, and experimental characterization of optomechanical properties. The role offers access to premier facilities, including world-class nanofabrication cleanrooms and advanced optical characterization labs, and integration into a group with a proven history of excellence in nanophotonics and optomechanics.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a strong background in experimental laboratory work and advanced data analysis. Experience in optomechanics, nanofabrication, nanophotonics, integrated optics, experiment control, or data analysis is beneficial. The group values motivation, creativity, clear communication, and collaborative spirit within a diverse and respectful international team culture.

ETH Zürich is renowned for its excellent education, cutting-edge fundamental research, and direct transfer of new knowledge into society. The university promotes equality of opportunity, values diversity, and nurtures an inclusive working and learning environment. Sustainability is a core value, with ongoing efforts toward a climate-neutral future.

Applications must be submitted online via the ETH Zürich application portal, including an application letter, updated CV, and names of two references. Questions regarding the position can be directed to Prof. Romain Quidant ([email protected]). Applications sent by email or postal services will not be considered. The application deadline is unspecified, so early submission is encouraged.
