About this position

fully funded PhD studentship on sustainable aviation fuel available at Imperial College London - please apply!

DPSA 2025 Round 2 | Open calls for fully funded PhD Studentships at Imperial College London to join my team and the Brahmal Institute’s Doctoral Programme in Sustainable Aviation (DPSA) - Deadline 11 July 2025 - 2 projects ??

?? Infosymbiotics for sustainable aviation: on non-CO2 emissions
Dr Sebastian Eastham and I are looking for a talented and motivated student to re-imagine aviation sustainability through infosymbiotics - designing a sustainable aviation system by taking advantage of live data. You will develop a new concept of the aircraft fleet as a multi-sensing system, whose measurements are used in real time to develop (and enact) operational/design strategies which reduce environmental impact.

?? Actionable SAF Pathways: multi-criteria assessment of production and impact on aviation
Prof Niall Mac Dowell and I are looking for a talented and motivated student to assess various sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) pathways by analysing their impact on aircraft design, operations, and airport logistics. Using multidisciplinary modelling and simulation frameworks, it aims to evaluate SAF alternatives at scale. This project will deploy computational search methods and multisource learning schemes to improve the efficiency and accuracy of large-scale assessments of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) pathways, accounting for uncertainties in technology and availability.
