The University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna is offering a short-term postdoctoral position (University Assistant Post-Doc 2026/0060) at the Konrad Lorenz Institute of Ethology. The successful candidate will be responsible for extracting and quantifying kinematic and behavioural metrics using established workflows, conducting statistical analyses in R, and leading the drafting, revision, and finalization of a scientific manuscript for submission within the 6-week contract period. Efficient coordination with collaborators and support for general teaching and administrative tasks at the institute are also expected.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in behavioural ecology, ethology, evolutionary biology, or a related discipline. Essential qualifications include strong experience in quantitative analysis of 3D behavioural data, a solid theoretical background in sexual selection and courtship evolution, advanced proficiency in R (especially with kinematic data structures), and demonstrated experience in scientific writing and publishing. Excellent German language skills (C1) and good English skills are required.
