Virtual Mentoring Program for African Women Economists (AAAWE/TAP)

The Association for the Advancement of African Women Economists (AAAWE), in partnership with the Think Africa Partnership (TAP) of The World Bank, is launching the fourth round of its Virtual Mentoring Program for African women economists. This program is designed for African women economists residing in Africa or the diaspora and will run from March 2026 to November 2026. Mentees will be matched with mentors based on their research interests and will participate in at least six group meetings during the program. The program includes group discussions, research feedback, and career development sessions. Larger sessions will cover topics such as developing a research agenda, publishing research papers, applying for grants, networking, and work-life balance. Some mentees may have the opportunity to attend the Southern Economics Association (SEA) conference in Houston in November 2026. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of participation. The program is coordinated by Professor Dahiru Murtada Abubakar of Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Nigeria. The application deadline is February 20, 2026. For more information or questions, applicants can contact [email protected]. This opportunity is ideal for African women economists seeking mentorship, research collaboration, and professional development in economics.
