Postdoctoral Position in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar

The Structural Seismic Engineering Group (SSEG) at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in the area of Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering. The project, titled "Characterization of the Topographic Amplification of Seismic Excitation," aims to address key questions in earthquake engineering, specifically how seismic inputs affect structures located on different topographic features. The research group is led by Professor Dhiman Basu, a recognized expert in the field. The position is open to candidates with a PhD in Civil, Structural, or Earthquake Engineering. Applicants must have a strong background in structural dynamics and finite element methods, proficiency in MATLAB programming, and experience with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ANSYS, and OpenSees. A minimum academic performance of 60% from graduation onward and 55% in class 10th and 12th is required. Having two journal papers from PhD work, with at least one in a Q1 journal, is considered an advantage. The appointment is under the Institute Post-Doctoral Scheme (IPD) and offers a consolidated salary ranging from INR 72,000 to INR 84,000 per month. The initial duration is one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The research environment at IIT Gandhinagar provides access to advanced facilities and a collaborative academic atmosphere. Interested candidates should apply via the official Google Form by 15 February 2026. Applications sent by email will not be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview as part of the final selection process. For more information, candidates can visit the SSEG and IITGN career webpages or contact Professor Dhiman Basu directly.
