Postdoctoral Position in Spatial Analysis of Microenvironmental Cancer Drivers at University of Copenhagen

The University of Copenhagen in Denmark is offering a postdoctoral position focused on integrative spatial analysis of microenvironmental drivers of pancreatic cancers. This opportunity is hosted by the Sandelin and Falsig Pedersen groups, which are renowned for their interdisciplinary research at the interface of computational biology, genomics, and molecular cancer physiology. The project aims to understand how biophysical microenvironments, such as pH and oxygen gradients, shape cellular phenotypes and gene regulation in vivo, with a particular emphasis on pancreatic cancer progression and metastasis. Recent work from these laboratories includes spatially resolved analysis of microenvironmental gradients in cancer, microfluidic models of pH and oxygen gradients in tumors, and studies on how tumor microenvironment acidosis favors cancer stem cell properties and metastasis. The research will utilize imaging-based measurements of pH and oxygen in mouse tumor models, integrated with spatially resolved single-cell transcriptomics to identify niche-specific gene programs. Functional validation will further elucidate how microenvironmental gradients drive gene expression and tumor progression. Applicants should hold or be close to completing a PhD in biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or molecular physiology. Preferred candidates will have expertise in experimental genomics, cell biology, advanced live imaging techniques, and/or computational analysis of spatial omics data, with experience in two or more areas being highly advantageous. Knowledge of cancer biology and a strong publication record in genomics, bioinformatics, or cancer biology are important. Excellent English communication skills and a genuine interest in interdisciplinary, collaborative research are required. The position is full-time for 2 years, with the possibility of extension, and is covered by the Danish academic staff agreement. Salary supplement negotiation is possible.
