Postdoctoral Researcher in Chiral Nanoparticle Characterization via AFM – Materials Science & Engineering

The Materials Interfaces & Colloid Engineering Laboratory at the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join their dynamic and diverse team in Terrassa (Barcelona), Spain. The position focuses on the characterization of chiral (plasmonic) nanoparticles using advanced Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) techniques, including Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM), Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy (KPFM), and force spectroscopy, with applications in materials science and colloid engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to microscopic characterization of nanoparticle morphology, assist in the supervision of PhD students, and participate in manuscript and proposal preparation. The research group values technical competencies in colloidal self-assembly, nanomaterials, polymer science, and surface chemical characterization, as well as organizational skills in research and laboratory data management, project management, and proficiency with MS Office, Origin, and reference management software. Applicants should hold a PhD in Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field. Experience in competitive research projects, manuscript/proposal preparation, and research activities in both academic and industrial settings is highly valued. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. Proficiency in English is required, while knowledge of Catalan and/or Spanish is advantageous. Interested candidates should send their CV and cover letter to [email protected] by December 19th, 2025. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a newly established laboratory at a leading Spanish institution, focusing on cutting-edge research in chiral nanoparticle characterization and materials interfaces.
