PhD Studentship in Enterobacter Infections and Macrophage Biology at Queen's University Belfast

This research aims to characterize the Enterobacter-containing vacuole (EcV) in macrophages using state-of-the-art confocal microscopy and to identify bacterial genes essential for intramacrophage survival through high-throughput screens and targeted gene deletions. Applicants must be full-time international Postgraduate Taught students enrolled at Queen’s University Belfast between 1 October 2024 and 31 January 2026, and subject to international tuition fees. A strong background in microbiology, cell biology, or related fields is preferred, and experience with confocal microscopy, bacterial genetics, or infectious disease research will be advantageous.
