PhD in Single-Cell Multi Omics, Nanoscale Imaging, and Disease Biology at Sunway University
Sunway University’s Faculty of Medical and Life Sciences, in collaboration with the Sunway Biofunctional Molecules Discovery Centre (SBMDC), is seeking motivated PhD students for fully funded positions in the fields of single-cell multi-omics, nanoscale imaging, and disease biology. The research environment is high-impact, focusing on fundamental understanding of single-cell biology, drug discovery, and medical sciences. The SBMDC offers advanced research platforms, including single-cell technology, NMR metabolomics, and scanning ion conductance microscopy (SICM), supporting innovative projects in biofunctional molecules, cancer biology, and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
Successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary team and benefit from a monthly stipend of RM 3,000 (up to 3 years) and a full tuition fee waiver. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in Biology, Medical Sciences, or related fields with a CGPA above 3.50 and at least one SCOPUS-indexed publication, or a CGPA above 3.75 with no publication required. Exceptional Bachelor’s degree holders (CGPA > 3.70) may apply for the direct-to-PhD track. Research areas include single-cell research, NMR metabolomics, functional food, cancer biology, and MOFs, with dedicated supervisors for each topic.
To apply, candidates should email their CV and a short research idea or statement of interest to the relevant supervisor based on their research focus. The SBMDC provides a collaborative and resource-rich environment, with access to Sunway Medical Centre and Sunway Multicare Pharmacy for translational research opportunities. For more information about the research centre and its facilities, visit the SBMDC resource page. This opportunity is ideal for students passionate about advancing their research careers in biofunctional molecules, disease biology, and cutting-edge biomedical technologies.
