Postdoctoral Position in Urban Atmospheric Turbulence and Experimental Fluid Mechanics at University of Pennsylvania
The Aerodynamics, Wind, And Renewable Energy (AWARE) Lab at the University of Pennsylvania, led by Assistant Professor Nathaniel Wei, is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to lead field experiments in urban atmospheric turbulence. The research involves constructing and deploying a field-scale 3D Lagrangian particle-tracking system to measure large-scale turbulent flow structures in the urban canopy layer of Philadelphia. The postdoc will also contribute to outreach programs aimed at improving ventilation, air quality, and thermal comfort in local schools, in collaboration with the Netter Center for Community Partnerships.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in mechanical, civil, or environmental engineering, atmospheric science, or a related field, with strong backgrounds in experimental fluid mechanics, mathematics, programming, and data analysis. Experience in developing novel measurement techniques or conducting field measurements of atmospheric turbulence is highly valued.
