PhD Position in Technology & Operations Management at EPFL
The Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) invites applications for a full-time PhD position in Technology & Operations Management within the College of Management of Technology. This PhD opportunity is hosted by the Chair of Technology and Operations Management (TOM) and is part of the EPFL doctoral school program. The research focus includes product assortment optimization, omni-channel inventory management, inventory theory, demand forecasting, supply chain resilience, sustainability modeling, and supply network design. The methodological foundation is operations research, with an emphasis on analytical modeling, stochastic optimization, and mathematical programming. The research aims to deepen understanding of supply chain components and their interactions with other business functions such as strategy, marketing, and finance. Industry collaboration is strongly encouraged to bridge theory and practice.
Main responsibilities include conducting independent dissertation research, collaborating with industry partners, co-supervising student projects, and providing basic administrative support. The position offers excellent working conditions, individual and intensive supervision, and financial support for the duration of the PhD.
Applicants should possess an excellent Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, or Computer Science, with a strong mathematical background and a keen interest in business-related topics. Proficiency in English, teamwork, independence, and motivation for research are essential. Candidates must also be eligible for and enroll in one of the EPFL doctoral school programs.
