Postdoctoral Researcher in Artificial General Intelligence and Cognitive Science
The L3S Research Center at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, led by Professor Sahar Vahdati, is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) with a focus on mind-inspired AI. The Nature-Inspired Machine Intelligence research group is expanding its core research direction to bridge cognitive science and AI, emphasizing the development of computational models that formalize reasoning, agency, meaning, and experience. The group is particularly interested in cognition-inspired modeling of human learning and reasoning, as well as the phenomenology of cognition, skill acquisition, and affordances.
The research agenda is anchored by the ARC-AGI-3 benchmark, focusing on robust generalization, abstraction, and problem solving beyond pattern matching. Candidates who are passionate about advancing general intelligence, exploring AGI beyond large language models (LLMs), and building new models for abstraction and problem solving are encouraged to apply. The position offers the opportunity to shape new research directions and translate hypotheses into experiments and measurable outcomes.
Applicants should have a PhD in computer science, cognitive science, psychology, or a related field, with a strong background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or cognitive modeling. Experience in computational modeling, experimental design, and measurable outcomes in AI research is preferred. The position is based in Germany and is suitable for candidates interested in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of AI and cognitive science.
